Homemade Ranch Dressing

Are you tired of all the ingredients you can’t even pronounce showing up in everything you buy? Are your kids veggie fans? I know many parents struggle to get their kids to eat vegetables. So, what do we do? We try to make them more enticing, buy giving them something to dunk them in. Well, what good does that do if the something you’re dunking in is full of artificial ingredients, preservatives, and sugar? I have a solution for you! This ranch dressing is so good, so easy, and it’s not made with any flavored powders or any other artificial ingredients. It’s fresh, tangy, creamy and it’s good for you! Yogurt has protein and probiotics. Show me a store-bought brand that’s as tasty and healthy as this one! You’re going to love it!

So where did this recipe originate from? Well, when you have milk cows, you get a TON of milk. When you have a TON of milk, you have to find some way to use it. One great use for extra milk is thick and creamy yogurt. I had some extra yogurt on hand and thought, what else can I do with this? And that’s when my Ranch Dressing Recipe was created.

Here’s the recipe:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt

  • 1 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp diced onion

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced or use a Garlic Press

  • 3 tbsp diced fresh Italian parsley * Hint: use a curved blade Salad Chopper to quickly chop fresh herbs.

  • Juice and zest of 1/2 lemon - here’s one like I use Lemon/Lime Squeezer

  • 1 tsp kosher salt

  • 1 dash cayenne pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients and refrigerate.

Now, I know not everyone has fresh, raw milk yogurt available. If you do, you’re so lucky!! If you don’t, not to worry! Just use a great quality, thick, plain, Greek yogurt.

Here’s a tasty variation for those of you that like a little spice! Add in some diced jalapeno. This is wonderful to serve on taco salad!
