After School Snack
I’ve started here with a lightly salted rice cake. Not very appetizing on its own, but it’s the perfect base for this yummy snack. Next, I add a nut butter. Here, I use almond butter, but peanut butter or my favorite, Nuttzo Butter, will also work. Then top it with fruit. I’ve used half an apple here, but half a banana or a handful of berries are two delicious choices. Next, a drizzle of honey. Luckily for us, we have a relationship with a beekeeper, he keeps bees on our land, and we get paid in honey! It’s definitely a win-win situation for all! Did you know consuming local honey will help with seasonal allergies? If you can, purchase local honey, support your local beekeepers and farmers. Now a sprinkle of cinnamon, and the surprise ingredient that tops it off, Himalayan salt. Now you have a crunchy, sweet, tangy, spicy, salty treat that is gluten free and hits every flavor profile. It is just enough to tide them over until dinner without ruining their appetite.
